Project description: Next to the Franklin Avenue Recycling Center, the city of Springfield is building environmental services offices – roughly 5,500 square feet spanning two floors – and an attached 3,000-square-foot truck bay to accommodate Clean Water Operations service trucks. Designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Silver standards, Branco Enterprises Project Manager Brady Bond said the building incorporates low-impact materials, pervious concrete paving and potable water reduction features, such as a rain water cistern and rain barrels to collect and store water for use on landscaping. Errin Kemper, assistant director of Springfield’s environmental services, said the offices would be occupied by new staff to implement the sanitary sewer overflow control plan.
