Project description: This addition to the 35,000-square-foot Springfield Art Museum is being funded through donations, including a $200,000 gift from Southwest Missouri Museum Associates. Additions include a gift shop, library, entrance hall, restrooms and three galleries, according to museum Director Jerry Berger. The new space will be climate-controlled to help preserve the museum’s 9,000-piece, $5 million collection. Future renovations could include heating, ventilation and air-conditioning upgrades to the existing building, which was constructed in 1958.
