Project description: This corporate-owned Sonic Drive In is increasing the number of drive-in stalls from 13 to 27, while also growing the inside kitchen space. General contractor Horizon, a construction firm from Texas, demolished and relocated the original structure to reconfigure the lot and make room for the additional stalls, said Shane Burton, a Sonic supervising partner. "It's the same size lot, we're just making better use of the space," Burton said. Sonic Restaurants Inc., based in Oklahoma City, Okla., prefers at least 25 stalls, he added. There are nine Sonic locations in Springfield, seven of which are corporate owned. Two franchisees individually own the remaining two locations.
