Project description: Christine Kern, director of business development for Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, said the expansion adds 16 beds and a new nursing station at the 44-bed acute care hospital. She said 40 beds are occupied on average. Paul Garrick, project manager with Brasfield & Gorrie LLC, said a cafeteria expansion also is in the works to serve the hospital’s long-term care patients with an average stay of 25 days and an average age of 63.
