Project description: Springfield's second Sam's Club, known as store No. 4985 and anchoring the west end of James River Commons, will include a pharmacy, optical center, one-hour photo, café, tire and battery center, car wash and a fuel station with six islands. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokesman Ryan Horn said that environmentally sustainable elements in new construction and remodeling are now standard; they include energy-efficient lighting in the retail chain's freezers and coolers, skylights, a water-reclaiming system in the car wash, and recycling services for tires, batteries, cardboard, single-use cameras, food waste, plastic waste and building materials. A Sam's Club of this size typically employs 250, Horn said.
