Project description: According to filings with the city of Republic, Red Monkey Foods is spending $2.9 million to construct a manufacturing plant in Republic’s Brookline Business Park – a move that would bring 110 new jobs to the area, with an additional 40 jobs expected over the next couple of years. The Mount Vernon-based spice manufacturer’s new headquarters is located in the city’s enhanced enterprise zone, entitling it to 50 percent property tax abatement over 10 years provided it meets job creation, health insurance and capital investment criteria. Red Monkey CEO Jeff Brinkhoff has said the company might maintain operations in Mount Vernon.
