Project description: After entering the market in 2012, Fayetteville, Ark.-based franchisee SmitCo Eateries is opening its third Springfield Popeyes restaurant. In addition to 1710 S. Glenstone and 3195 S. Campbell Ave., SmitCo also runs six Arkansas Popeyes restaurants in Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Rogers, Springdale and Van Buren and recently was granted franchise rights to the Columbia and Jefferson City markets. To make way for the West Kearney Street store, a former China Star restaurant was razed, said Sean Thouvenot, vice president of field operations for Branco Enterprises.
