Project description: After earning city approval for development incentives, Greenway Capital LLC and Brent Brown began building in a blighted area in March. Two structures will span 40,000 square feet for the Northgate Apartments. Brown said the project was approved for 100% property tax abatement for 10 years through the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority’s Chapter 99 program. The complex, designed with 74 single-bedroom and studio units, is within a 46-acre area – along Kansas Expressway between Kearney Street and Interstate 44 – identified for redevelopment by Springfield City Council in mid-2018. “This area is a gateway to our city and is greatly in need of revitalization,” Brown said in a news release.
