Project description: Officials with real estate company Magers Management Co. have not yet named this mixed-use project near the campus of Missouri State University. Shannon Handwerker, vice president of operations for Magers Management, said it’s designed with up to five commercial bays on the ground floor and 20 microapartments above. Magers Management, led by Randy Magers, plans to open an office of its own to be near campus, Handwerker said. She said there are no signed tenants for the roughly 7,000 square feet of commercial space, but the company is targeting retailers and restaurants. Rental rates have not yet been established for the fully furnished, nearly 400-square-foot units on the second floor. Prior to construction, contractors demolished five aging residential properties at the corner of Madison Street and Kimbrough Avenue.
April 7 was the official opening day for Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant Show Me Chuy after a soft launch that started March 31; marketing agency AdZen debuted; and the Almighty Sando Shop opened a brick-and-mortar space.
