Project description: The student recreation center will feature a 7,000-square-foot swimming pool, jogging track, fitness center, basketball courts, rock-climbing walls and a lounge area with computer centers and flat-panel televisions. In March, the university’s board of governors approved $17.97 million in bonds to finance the project. In July, the university approved a $56.6 million bond issue for various campus projects, including the recreation center. Funds for the center also come from a combination of a dedicated self-assessed student fee, which has been collected since 2007, and private gifts.
