Project description: The thrift store rising south of Battlefield Road adjacent to New Covenant Academy is the second of two Mers Goodwill projects in town by Columbia-based Coil Construction Inc. A 14,587-square-foot store opened May 5 at 425 Western Ave. Project Manager Cody Logsdon said both facilities have pre-engineered metal with a masonry brick veneer. Mers Goodwill’s 520 E. Battlefield Road store will move to the Kansas Expressway site, where the St. Louis-based nonprofit in July spent $1.4 million on land acquisition. Mers Goodwill is investing over $2 million on land for both stores, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
