Project description: Operating as a partnership between Mercy and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Centerre Healthcare, the 60-bed, self-financed hospital is designed to provide inpatient rehabilitation services for patients recovering from strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations and severe orthopedic injuries, said Mercy spokeswoman Sonya Kullmann. The facility would replace services currently offered at Mercy Hospital Springfield, where officials say needs have outgrown its 35 rehab beds. The hospital property is just north of Evans Road and west of Highway 65 on 120 acres shared with the $116 million, 200,000-square-foot Mercy Orthopedic Hospital, which Kullmann said is scheduled to open for clinic patients in mid-August.
