Project description: A demolition and rebuild has caught the attention of travelers on South Glenstone Avenue, where Ashley Kalil recently purchased a McDonald’s restaurant from her father, Phil Stocker, who operated McDonald’s restaurants in Springfield for over 40 years. Kalil said this is the third McDonald’s in the city with the technology for seamless pickup and curbside service, including a delivery doorbell that she called a fun new addition. “It has all the bells and whistles that are relevant for neighborhood families needing a meal quickly,” she said. Kalil said the restaurant has a high rate of drive-thru use, with what she described as busy-bee workers trying to make the experience as quick and easy as possible. The delivery doorbell is located within a vestibule, where a drive-thru-type window will roll open for access to deliveries. Eventually, Kalil said, she looks forward to offering lockers where customers will be able to type in a code to retrieve delivery orders.
