Project description: Kum & Go District Supervisor Graham McCaleb said due to an aging building and limited square footage, the West Des Moines, Iowa-based chain is replacing a smaller store under 3,500 square feet with a 6,000-square-foot store built from scratch. Designed in Kum & Go’s new marketplace concept, becoming one of the first of its kind, McCaleb said the site offers seven fuel pumps and three diesel dispensers for trucks, as well as such food products as made-to-order pizzas and sandwiches. The store is designed to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified with energy-efficient features such as LED lighting and low-flow water fixtures. McCaleb declined to disclose costs, deferring to public records. Similarly sized projects in Springfield have cost roughly $4 million.
