Project description: The 63,000-square-foot building will hold a media center and 18 classrooms for preschool, kindergarten and first grade, said Joey Crum, project manager for architect firm Jack Ball & Associates. A multipurpose room has been designed to serve as a Federal Emergency Management Agency shelter, Crum said, and the two-story building has entrances and parent drop-off locations on both floors. All classrooms were designed to include natural daylight. The construction is paid for through a $6.46 million bond issue passed by voters in April 2009, said district superintendent Tim Taylor.
