Project description: Hill City Church acquired the 7-acre site that formerly housed Bolivar Insulation Co. of Springfield LLC on East Trafficway Street for its new home, according to a representative of Snyder Construction Group. The congregation has been active for six years, meeting in the Gillioz Theatre, and the building now rising on the former industrial site will be their first permanent location. The project features an auditorium that seats about 700 people, along with a large atrium space and some smaller gathering areas, as well as a warming kitchen, outdoor green space, classrooms and parking. Hill City Church offers ministries for children, youth, adults and college students, according to its website, where a donation page indicates $2.6 million has been committed by donors toward the new church home.
Chamber speaker suggests turning downtown storefronts into maker spaces.
Sad that the tore down the old water tower. Would have made a great symbol for the church.
