Project description: A former Greene County-owned parking lot is being transformed into a two-story operations center. Branco Enterprises won the project bid last fall out of six construction companies. Its $3.39 million bid was about $600,000 under the original estimated budget, but county officials say other factors were considered. The total project is budgeted at $5 million, including work for site preparation, data lines, temporary utilities and equipment, according to a county news release. After breaking ground in early October 2018, county spokeswoman Donna Barton said favorable weather has moved the construction along quickly this year. The center will consolidate the county’s janitorial and maintenance, print shop, microfilm, mailroom and central supply services. It also is designed with loading docks and warehouse space – features officials say are not found at other county buildings.
