Project description: Extensive additions and renovations this school year at Fremont Elementary have students meeting off-site at the former Sherwood Elementary, said GR Stovall, business development manager for general contractor Branco Enterprises. While the 55,000-square-foot building is being fully renovated, crews are adding 38,500 square feet to include a storm shelter and double classroom sizes in 21st century design standards. Stovall said the project also involves outdoor learning spaces, new parking and updated playgrounds. The Fremont project is funded through bonds issued in 2013, according to an SPS news release.
