Project description: Fire Station No. 12 is designated as the hazardous materials response team station for the Springfield Fire Department. The facility includes an 812-square-foot community room.

The building is constructed out of masonry and EIFS – exterior insulation finish systems – veneer with metal studs and wood trusses. The new station serves residents in the district east of U.S. Highway 65. Four firefighters will be assigned to the station 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Assistant Fire Chief Steve Hoerning said. Funding comes from the level property tax referendum approved by Springfield voters in February 2004.
