Project description: CVS Pharmacy is building its sixth store in Springfield on the site of a former Hardee’s restaurant at Elm Street and National Avenue. According to Springfield Business Journal archives, CVS bought the nearly 1-acre site for an undisclosed amount in January from property owner Michel Shay of Nixa-based Hardee’s of Southwest Missouri Inc. The property has a 2014 taxable appraised value of $544,500, according to Greene County assessor records. CVS Health Corp. (NYSE: CVS) has spent around $10 million on retail pharmacies in Springfield and Nixa over the past two years. While CVS store developments typically cost around $2 million, the estimated cost on the Springfield building permit was about half that.
