Project description: On the property formerly occupied by a Burger King restaurant, Springfield Builders Inc. project manager Kirk Looney said a large water detention box – 6 feet tall, 24 feet wide and 150 feet long – has been built under the parking lot to catch stormwater runoff. According to Springfield Business Journal archives, Missouri CVS Pharmacy LLC moved to buy the vacant property from Great Southern Bank in January 2012 after Great Southern purchased it for $850,000 in May 2011. Bank officials had considered a new branch on the site, which became available after Burger King operators Duke and King Acquisition Corp. filed for bankruptcy in December 2010. Construction crews demolished the restaurant before building the pharmacy, CVS’ fifth in Springfield.
