Project description: A 2-acre parcel adjacent to a competing health system is being developed into a two-story CoxHealth clinic with a basement. The site at the southwest corner of Sunshine Street and National Avenue was the home of late Missouri Rep. B.J. Marsh and his travel agency, Marsh Travel. Rod Schaffer, vice president of facilities for CoxHealth, told Springfield City Council in August 2021 Cox had been scouting for a Sunshine Street clinic location for years, and in April 2021, Marsh’s widow, Joni Marsh, approached CoxHealth about a possible sale. A zoning change from residential to office district allowed the purchase to proceed. CoxHealth President Max Buetow told Springfield Business Journal last month this location at the gateway to the Medical Mile enhances visibility for the system. CoxHealth spokesperson Randy Berger said the hospital system was not ready to release information about the clinic. This design team has built clinics for CoxHealth in Republic, Ozark and Nixa with services that include primary and urgent care, a walk-in clinic, physical therapy and on-site radiology and lab.
