Project description: A three-story addition now under construction on the south side of the existing Citizens Memorial Hospital will double the hospital’s size. The building is designed as a cast-in-place concrete structure with an exterior skin that is a combination of brick, curtain wall and aluminum wall panels. The addition will include a new main entrance, an expanded emergency department, a dietary department, a gift shop, a pharmacy, private medical and surgical patient rooms, an intensive care suite and a birthing suite with dedicated C-section room. The addition is due to be completed in January 2026, after which a renovation phase of the existing hospital space will follow, with the project completion by December 2026, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
