Project description: In the Rountree neighborhood, a student housing project comprising 14 two-story cottages is on pace to wrap up by mid-September. Austin, Texas-based developer Justin Helms said a handful of the cottages were leased by press time. Monthly rates are $2,600-$2,800 for each four-bedroom cottage, he said. Bryan Properties LLC is signed on as the management company. Four vacant houses along East Cherry Street were demolished in November 2019 to make room for the student housing project. Construction initially was slated to be complete in early summer, but Helms said seasonal rain delayed site work.

I live in the neighborhood and I was totally disgusted with our planning and zoning dept. and the city council for allowing this ugly oversized development in our neighborhood. It is the beginning of the demise of a beautiful older neighborhood.
