Project description: This summer, crews demolished two structures on a corner parcel adjacent to the west Springfield Menards store. Williams Construction Co. project manager Nick Sellers said a Casey’s General Store is going up, along with a fuel canopy. The Springfield-based contractor builds Casey’s stores in about six states, he said, and this is the first new store in Springfield in at least nine years. Others have been remodeled, he said. Officials with Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s General Stores Inc. (Nasdaq: CASY) could not be reached by deadline. According to Caseys.com, the convenience store and fuel station chain operates 10 stores in the Springfield market.
