Project description: The YMCA will manage and operate the aquatics center for the city of Bolivar, and the facility will have a retractable roof made of aluminum and polycarbonate panels, according to Wirt-Flavin Construction project manager Tim Flavin. The addition to the Roy Blunt YMCA is funded by municipal revenue bonds. Flavin said the design process took longer than expected and led to project delays. The original completion was scheduled for September 2011. While resembling a greenhouse, the aquatic center will feature a waterslide that goes outside of the building and two pools, Flavin said. Construction began in January 2011 and is expected to wrap up by Memorial Day.
