Project description: The property for this project is partially owned by the cities of Springfield and Battlefield. The Battlefield Volunteer Fire Department is building the station and upon completion, the Battlefield Fire Department District will rent or purchase the station from the volunteer department, according to Chief Jerry Sparkman. If that area is annexed into city limits, Springfield will purchase the land and fire station. Sparkman said, "It's a unique deal in the fact that the two agencies are working together." Sparkman added that the station will have three drive-through bays and could house six fire trucks. The station will have upstairs sleeping quarters, a kitchenette and a community meeting room/day room. [[In-content Ad]]
