Project description: AutoZone Inc. (NYSE: AZO) is retrofitting the former Name Brand Mattress Store next to Westlake Hardware. The roughly 7,000-square-foot auto parts store – an expansion of 5,895 square feet, according to city permits – would employ 10, according to AutoZone spokesman Ray Pohlman. The store is one of 150 the company plans to open this year, Pohlman said, noting the company performs extensive market research to determine the age of local fleets and whether the market is underserved. AutoZone currently operates over 5,000 stores and reported fiscal 2014 sales of $9.5 billion.
