Project description: Built on part of the land that previously housed longtime roller rink Skateport, the sixth Andy’s Frozen Custard shop in Springfield is designed with wood and brick, a new look that resembles a corporate-owned Kansas City store. Stevie Stryker, public relations and media associate for the 30-year-old chain, said the building also includes a partially enclosed structure that would shield customers from bad weather. Co-owner Andy Kuntz in January acquired the 1.5-acre parcel organized as Wisdom LLC, which received a $1.05 million loan from Great Southern Bank, according to real estate filings with the Greene County recorder. The property sits on the south side of Independence Street where a road extension recently created a four-way stop on South Glenstone. Kuntz originally targeted a summer opening for the store, and the company has a goal of 75 stores by the end of 2017.
