Description: An expansion of the central Springfield location of A-1 Custom Car Care at the corner of Fort Avenue and Sunshine Street is underway. The project will make use of a vacant Kum & Go convenience store, said project architect Geoffrey Butler of BRP Architects. Butler said the 4,100-square-foot core building will house administrative offices, a customer waiting area and training facilities, along with two automobile service bays. More service bays will surround the core building to make up the expanded 7,200-square-foot store footprint. The current A-1 Custom Car Care facility just south of the site currently houses three service bays, and by the end of the project, 10 service bays will be active at the Sunshine facility. A-1 Custom Car Care also has locations in Republic and southwest Springfield.
