The meeting is at 2 p.m. at Reed Auditorium in the Trustee Science Center at Drury University and is open to the public. It is expected to last about two hours.
Todd Parnell, who begins as interim president of Drury on Friday, will make opening remarks, and Mayor Pro Tem Gary Deaver will moderate. Policymakers, representatives from elected officials and other community leaders are expected to attend.
Discussion topics will include descriptions of new fuel technologies that could be a part of a fall conference, as well as potential sources of support for the conference and a Springfield-area new fuels initiative.
If given the green light, the conference could cover areas such as fuel crops used to supplement fossil fuels, gasoline and diesel and motor oils; bio-mass from community tree-trimming and right-of-way plant growth for electricity; trash diversion into fuel/coal mix alternatives; and landfill and agricultural methane production.
