Freeman Health System has decommissioned the COVID-19 unit at its hospital in west Joplin.
The unit's last four patients were discharged on Monday. The 16-bed area, converted from a medical oncology unit, is now sitting empty for the first time since its inception in July.
"We’re happy to see the numbers moving in the right direction and glad to see our community needs shifting away from COVID," said Jeanee Kennedy, chief nursing officer with Freeman Health System.
