Fox and Hound English Pub & Grille has closed after more than a decade operating on the south side.
Randy Steinbrenner, director of marketing for the Fox and Hound Restaurant Group, confirmed the Springfield restaurant at 2035 E. Independence St. closed May 21.
"We had a good run in the Springfield market, but it was just time to move on," he said. "The numbers didn't make sense, so we went in another direction."
Steinbrenner declined to go into further detail about the closure, saying it was a business decision.
The property, owned by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and operated by his Blue Star Development Co., sits along a strip near a Walmart Supercenter that is
dominated by the multibillionaire's holdings.
A call to a number listed for Blue Star Development online went unanswered this morning, as did a call to the local Springfield number for the Fox and Hound restaurant.
Steinbrenner declined to say whether the restaurant was a franchise or owned by the company.
According to
Springfield Business Journal archives, the eatery opened in 1998.[[In-content Ad]]
