Eight more city-owned parcels are available for bid as part of the city's ongoing efforts to raise money by selling excess property.
Several of the properties in the newest group were included in the second group put up for bid earlier this year, but those did not receive any acceptable bids.
The city has taken additional steps with the new properties, including adding a reserve price that would be needed for the city to recoup its costs, as well as putting up "For Sale" signs on the subject properties and sending notices to potential buyers such as affordable housing developers.
Bids on the new group of properties will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Jan. 12.
The eight parcels in the group, zoned for single-family residential use unless otherwise noted:
1735 N. Clay, with a reserve price of $12,000;
827 S. Weaver Ave., with a reserve of $15,000;
916 S. Market Ave., with a reserve of $12,000;
2632 W. Brower St., with a reserve of $15,000;
2808 W. Olive St., with a reserve of $8,000;
1447 N. Fremont Ave., with a reserve of $9,000. This property would have to be built above base flood elevation;
900 W. College St., zoned for commercial services with a reserve of $14,000; and
1516 N. Grant Ave., zoned for multifamily residential use with a reserve of $12,000.
Net proceeds from the sales will go back to the funds from which each property was purchased, up to the amount of the purchase price, and Springfield City Council has stated its intention to put any additional proceeds into the Police and Fire Pension Fund.[[In-content Ad]]
