Four Springfield-area legislators named Mo. Senate leaders

Four Springfield-area legislators were named among leaders of Missouri Senate committees for the 98th General Assembly.

The Republican senators are Bob Dixon, of Springfield, Jay Wasson, of Nixa, Mike Parson, of Bolivar, and Mike Cunningham, of Rogersville, according to a Jan. 12 news release from the Senate offices in Jefferson City.

“The work done in committees is no small undertaking and carries many responsibilities,” Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, said in the release. “With new challenges this year, I have no doubt we will be able to put our disagreements aside.”

Chairmen positions went to Dixon for the Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee; Wasson for the Financial and Government Organizations and Elections Committee; Parson for the Small Business, Insurance and Industry Committee; and Cunningham for the Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight Committee.
