The founder and former CEO of social media app IRL has been charged with allegedly defrauding investors.
Abraham Shafi is accused by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission of allegedly making false and misleading statements about the company's growth. He's also accused of allegedly using company credit cards for personal expenses.
IRL shut down in mid-2023 after an investigation by the company's board found 95% of the app’s users were “automated or from bots," according to TechCrunch.
