Longtime Springfield radio announcer Jay Fotsch is exiting his role with SummitMedia LLC.
Fotsch, who has hosted "Fotsch and Friends" on 94.7 KTTS since last year and was on 96.5 KSPW before that, announced in a Facebook post this week that his last day on the air would be Aug. 15.
Fotsch confirmed to Springfield Business Journal that he's leaving both 94.7 KTTS and SummitMedia.
"I'm moving on to a different career," he said, noting an announcement is expected next week.
The Springfield Cardinals, for which Fotsch serves as emcee, is running a "radio retirement" promotion for tonight's game at Hammons Field.
Fotsch said he's heard from many people he has met in his career since the Aug. 11 Facebook post in which he thanked listeners and his co-workers for his 25 years on the air.
"There's been a lot of outpouring of positive feedback," he told SBJ. "It's been really nice."
SummitMedia is based in Birmingham, Alabama, and locally operates radio stations 104.1 KSGF, 94.7 KTTS, 96.5 KSPW and 106.7 KRVI, according to its website.
