The Workforce Investment Board of Southwest Missouri will host a community discussion on the economic potential of the changing industries 2–3:30 p.m. at the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, 320 E. Fourth St.
The forum is designed to determine what the region can do to make the most of its technology and innovation fields. The results of the discussion will be used by the board to guide the area’s work force policies and resources.
The forum’s results also will be forwarded to the Southern Growth Policy Board, a public-private partnership of 14 states that develops economic policies. Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt serves as chairman-elect for the organization.
Wednesday’s event will be facilitated by Tom Simpson of Missouri Southern State University’s Center for Economic Development. After the discussion, participants will tour Joplin’s Newman Innovation Center and view its latest developments.
The forum is limited to 35 participants. To RSVP, e-mail forum@workforcezone.net or call (417) 629-3000.
