Former Vice President Walter Mondale died on Monday. He was 93.
Mondale served as vice president to former President Jimmy Carter. He later ran for president but lost to Ronald Reagan.
"My whole life, I worked on the idea that government can be an instrument for social progress. We need that progress. Fairness requires it," Mondale told The New York Times in 2010.
