The former CEO of Pinnacle Airlines was shot dead last night in downtown Memphis.

Philip Trenary, who was the president and CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, was shot near where the chamber was hosting an annual road race. The reason for the shooting is unclear, though police described the suspect as a black male with dreadlocks, wearing a blue shirt and driving a white four-door Ford F150.

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland called Trenary's death a "senseless loss."
