Former officer who shot Rayshard Brooks charged with murder

Former Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe on Wednesday was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and other offenses in the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks.

The charges come less than a week after Brooks' death sparked new protests against racism and police brutality. Rolfe was fired after the incident.

A number of Atlanta police officers reportedly have called in sick to protest the charges.
