Kevin Elmer, a former Republican member of the Missouri House of Representatives, was elected to the board of directors for a Rex Sinquefield-backed political action committee.
Elmer, of Nixa, becomes the seventh board member of the Missouri Club for Growth, including former House Speaker Tim Jones, of Eureka, according to a news release. Elmer was elected to the House in
2010 and served two terms.
“I served four years in the Missouri House of Representatives and fought for lower taxes, less regulation and education reform. The Missouri Club for Growth is at the forefront of promoting those same policies,” Elmer said in the release. “I look forward to joining this team as it continues to advocate for limited government and increased personal freedoms in the great state of Missouri."
An attorney, Elmer
last year sought to fill the 38th Circuit Court seat left vacant by the death of Christian County Circuit Judge Mark Orr. Laura Johnson, a Christian County resident and attorney with Springfield law firm Ellis, Ellis, Hammons & Johnson PC, ultimately was selected for the job.
Last year, Sinquefield, via the Missouri Club for Growth, targeted Rep. Jeff Messenger, R-Republic, by sending out anti-Messenger mailers ahead of the August primary election. The PAC also sent out mailers to Nixa residents questioning the way the school district issues its bonds, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
According to the PAC’s
website, the organization seeks to elect conservative leaders who back economic and jobs growth issues.
