Former Lenexa Hostess bakery will reopen, hire 100

Flowers Baking Co. of Lenexa LLC will begin production this summer at the former Hostess Brands bakery at in Lenexa, Kan.

In 2013, Thomasville, Ga.-baseed Flowers Foods Inc. acquired Hostess's former bread brands, 20 bakeries and 36 depots for $355 million.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, the Lenexa bakery employed 197 before it shuttered. Flowers has invested an estimated $10 million to renovate the facility and plans to hire 100 when it opens at an undisclosed date.
