Former Leggett & Platt CEO donates $6M to Mizzou

Posted online
The University of Missouri scored a $6 million donation Friday afternoon from a frequent donor, Harry Cornell, a Joplin resident and former president and CEO of Leggett & Platt Inc.

The gift funds a four-year program at the Columbia school's business college. The Cornell Leadership Program is for high-achieving incoming freshmen and qualified juniors, and it provides those students with mentoring from alumni, lectures and presentations from businesses, and luncheon opportunities with executives and scholars, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

Cornell has donated over $13 million to the campus. Previous gifts have bolstered construction of the business school's home, Cornell Hall, named after its donor.
