Mike Redmon, a longtime employee of KPM CPAs & Advisors who served as the firm's third managing shareholder, has died. He was 72.
Redmon died March 15, according to his obituary posted to the website of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home Inc. He died of complications from heart surgery, said Kevin Redmon, his son.
Kevin Redmon said in an interview this morning that his father was humble and intelligent.
"That combination was really deadly for his career. That's why he was so good," he said.
Redmon said his father was a great relationship builder.
"He was a great listener, too. He always taught me to listen very well," Redmon said. "He always had great advice."
Mike Redmon became KPM's third managing shareholder in 2008, according to the firm's website.
A statement provided by the firm indicates Redmon served as managing shareholder for six years and "played an important role in shaping our organization."
"Even after retiring nearly a decade ago, he continued to return each tax season to support our team, a reflection of his deep commitment to our people and our mission," said Sean Balisle, managing member for KPM, in the statement. "Mike will be remembered not only for his professional contributions, but for the care and generosity he showed to those around him. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time."
A visitation for Redmon is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on March 22, with a prayer service to follow at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, according to his obituary. A memorial mass is slated to be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 23 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
