Former Intel CEO dies at 79

Andy Grove, who was Intel's CEO and chairman in the 1990s and early 2000s, died yesterday. He was 79.

Grove, who suffered from Parkinson's disease, also was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1996. An experimental cancer treatment helped put him into remission.

While Grove was CEO, Intel's sales grew to $26 billion from nearly $2 billion. He was central in the company's decision to switch its focus to processor from memory chips.
