Silver Dollar City to invest $30M at theme park

A major shift in land ownership has taken place in the Branson area.

Silver Dollar City spokesperson Lisa Rau said the company purchased 836 acres in Stone County that had once been the proposed site for the failed $1.6 billion Indian Ridge Resort.

"We have no plans to announce regarding this majestic Ozark Mountain Table Rock Lake property," she said via email.

Rau said crews are currently on-site to demolish partially completed homes that were left on the property after the Indian Ridge development work stopped.

The land is adjacent to property that Silver Dollar City owns or leases, Rau added.

Developer Jim Shirato in the mid-2000s broke ground on the 850-acre Indian Ridge planned development in Branson West with much fanfare, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. Former Gov. Matt Blunt was among officials who visited the area for a groundbreaking ceremony.

Beyond a handful of structures left in various stages of development, Indian Ridge never came to fruition after running into legal and financing problems, according to SBJ reporting.

The site most recently was home to a proposed project in 2018 called The Ridge at Table Rock Lake. Work went quiet after a Highway 76 intersection for the development was initiated, according to past reporting.

Rau said beyond the partially completed Indian Ridge homes, there are no other structures on the property.
