Figure AI, which is developing humanoid robots, has been sued by its former head of product safety.
Robert Gruendel alleges in the lawsuit that he was wrongfully terminated after warning company executives that the robots "were powerful enough to fracture a human skull."
A Figure spokesperson said in a statement to CNBC that Gruendel was "terminated for poor performance." The statement said his "allegations are falsehoods that Figure will thoroughly discredit in court."
