Former Darr companies rebrand

Germany-based Symrise AG is rebranding businesses previously owned by southwest Missouri businessperson Bill Darr after buying them in a blockbuster deal over two years ago.

American Dehydrated Foods and IsoNova are joining with other Symrise companies Diana Pet Food and Schaffelaarbos into a single division called Symrise Pet Food, according to a news release. International Dehydrated Foods, another former Darr company, is part of the Diana brand, according to its website.

“Symrise Pet Food unites the leading players in their markets and fields of expertise," division President Bertrand de Launay said in the release. "They share a strong sustainability approach as their business models draw on creating value from byproducts.”

The move also creates new brands for Symrise Pet Food products: Nutrios, for its pet nutrition line; SPF, for pet food palatability products; and Videka, for its pet food protection solutions, a joint venture between Symrise and Michigan-based Kalsec Inc.

Symrise closed on the acquisition of ADF, IDF and IsoNova in late 2019 for $900 million, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The deal remains the largest publicly disclosed business sale in Springfield history.

Darr founded ADF/IDF in 1978 and built the meat and egg-based protein provider to annual sales of $220 million in 2018, SBJ previously reported.
