Former Chinese security chief gets life in prison for corruption

Former Chinese security chief Zhou Yongkang was sentenced to life in prison on corruption charges Thursday following a closed-door trial.

Zhou becomes the highest-ranking official to fall in President Xi Jinping's ongoing anticorruption campaign, according to USA Today.

He was accused of accepting bribes, abusing his power and disclosing state secrets.
